Your New Job
Our client, a leading name in public realm and infrastructure development across Ireland, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Portlaoise.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to play a key part in the commercial management and successful delivery of multiple civil and infrastructure projects across the Midlands.
You will work closely with Senior Leadership, Project Managers, and Site Teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of the commercial strategy across assigned projects.

Manage subcontractor packages, overseeing procurement, valuations, and payments to subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

Administer cost control processes including cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare, submit, and agree valuations, variations, and final accounts in line with contractual requirements.

Produce regular cost/value reconciliations and commercial performance reports, highlighting risk, opportunity, and project status.

Maintain detailed records of subcontractor and supplier contracts and documentation.

Ensure full compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations.

Assist with estimating activities and tender preparation for new projects.

Collaborate with project teams to optimise value and support continuous improvement in commercial performance.
What Are We Looking For?
-
5–8 years’ post-graduate experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within civil or infrastructure projects.

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.

Chartered or working towards chartership with RICS, SCSI, CIOB, or equivalent professional body.

Strong knowledge of CVR processes, cost reporting, and valuations.

Proficiency in relevant software such as Cost-ex, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word.

Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and communication skills.

Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail, with the ability to work to demanding deadlines.

A proactive and collaborative approach, balancing assertiveness with diplomacy when engaging with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as contract law, negotiation, and industry best practice.
