Our client, a leading food manufacturing company based in Co. Wexford, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Quality Manager to join their team.
This is a full-time, permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled Quality professional to play a pivotal role in maintaining and advancing the organisation’s food safety and quality standards across a modern manufacturing environment.
Working closely with the Quality Manager, you will oversee key quality assurance functions, ensure full regulatory compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s Food Safety and Quality Management Systems. This role also provides a clear path for progression to a future Quality Manager position.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Support the management and continuous improvement of the Food Safety & Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with BRCGS and customer-specific standards.

Lead and coordinate internal audit programmes, ensuring compliance with all food safety and company standards.

Prepare for, host, and follow up on third-party and customer audits, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions.

Mentor and support the QA team, providing guidance on procedures, policies, and food safety practices.

Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Maintenance teams to investigate and resolve quality issues through effective root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.

Maintain and update product specifications, ensuring all raw materials and finished products meet required standards.

Monitor and analyse quality data, KPIs, and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Deputise for the Quality Manager as required, ensuring leadership continuity and operational effectiveness.

Contribute to departmental strategy, supporting key objectives for quality, compliance, and performance.
What Are We Looking For?

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline.

3–5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing quality assurance role, ideally with strong exposure to audit management.

In-depth understanding of BRCGS, HACCP, and GMP standards.

Certified Internal Auditor qualification (preferred) or substantial internal auditing experience.

Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proven leadership qualities with the ability to coach and motivate team members.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Experience within the dairy or cultured foods sector would be advantageous but not essential.
