What you need to know

A leading global manufacturer of pioneering audio products, whose brand is recognised around the world, is looking to add an experienced and committed Software Development Engineer to their team in Co. Offaly. The role will involve you contributing to the development and maintenance of the software systems.

You will use cutting-edge software engineering techniques and technology to consistently deliver improvements to various software systems and champion the company’s strong culture of ‘first time right’ manufacturing. You will be one of the subject matter experts on software systems on site and will work collaboratively with your colleagues on all software matters.

Your new job
Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively as a member of the engineering team to provide support and service to the manufacturing operation, through the introduction of new technology/techniques, skill development, training, process optimisation and cost-saving projects. 

  • Provide specialist software and problem-solving support to the production unit’s technical team. 

  • Represent the company on all Test Software issues that are assigned to you. 

  • Prepare and maintain various technical reports for both internal and external use.

  • Provide training when required on developed software solutions and processes.

  • Develop new and refine and manage the life cycle of existing test solutions and processes.

  • Develop solutions to provide insights into, and alerts from the production process and testing data, which will enable production and planning departments to improve yields and throughput. 

  • Identify user requirements of software solutions and transfer these requirements into technical specifications.

  • Design/develop software modules on various projects based on engineering specifications and visualise through CAD tools. 

  • Source or manufacture software and infrastructure as required.

  • Participate in the validation of new test equipment / new processes. 

  • Ensure that all equipment cycle times are maintained and meet OEE requirements.

  • Maintain spares for all equipment that fall under your responsibility.

  • Develop and maintain all associated documentation & procedures.


What are we looking for?

  • A degree in Software Engineering or a related discipline. 

  • A minimum of three years of full-time industrial/manufacturing experience in development, release and life-cycle maintenance of software application solutions.

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft visual studio; software development environment; primarily C#  from concept design through to the realisation of the final released application and its integration into the end product is essential.

  • Knowledge and experience in acoustic signal processing in time-critical applications. 

  • Knowledge and experience in test equipment measurement software qualification processes. 

  • Experience in the development and revision control of documentation is essential.

  • Knowledge and experience with NI measurement software tools (i.e., TestStand, LabView, etc..) is desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. 

  • A team player who can work well in cross-functional teams to achieve collective business objectives. 

  • Methodical approach combined with accuracy and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Versatile with the ability to learn new skills and tasks quickly.
