What you need to know

Matrix Recruitment are seeking to recruit a Software Controls Project Manager for our client, based in the Waterford area.

This is a permanent role.

Reporting to the MD, you will manage the software engineering team onsite. You will have the knowledge and understanding of controls, coding, PLC, and software and deliver on key client projects- specific to control systems within manufacturing.

 

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers.

  • Build, motivate and inspire growth through outstanding, mentoring and coaching.

  • Monitor and provide the expertise to fill skill gaps.

  • Analysing data to effectively coordinate the installation of new systems or the modification of existing systems.

  • Managing the software development lifecycle.

  • Monitoring system performance. Overseeing the testing and troubleshooting of new software, project development, design, build and documentation.

  • Developing and directing software system validation and testing methods.

  • Developing and executing project plans.

  • Oversee & understand all commitments and deliveries in alignment with company goals.

  • Working closely with clients and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals.

  • Communicating key project data to team members and building cohesion among mechanical and electrical engineers.

  • Applying best practices problem-solving initiatives and SOP’s.

  • Creating innovative solutions to meet our company’s technical needs and shaping the future of our systems. 

 

What are we looking for?

  • 3rd level Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology.

  • Experienced Senior Software Engineer capable of designing, writing code & delivering software, specific to control systems within manufacturing.

  • Experience within relevant Industry - automation machinery/manufacturing.

  • Experience within a controls, automation or systems engineering role.

  • 2+ years proven ability to manage, motivate and mentor.

  • Project Management experience essential.

  • Passionate about software development.

 

Desirable

  • Experience with Beckhoff PLC programming a distinct advantage (ST- structured text, LD-Ladder Diagram)
