A leading medical device company that is at the forefront of developing new medical technologies are currently seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Packaging Engineer to join its labelling and packaging department on a 12-month contract in Galway City.

As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of cutting-edge medical device packaging for vascular and implant therapies products. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging and pioneering products and play an integral role in supporting technology transfers, continuous improvement initiatives and driving the development of the packaging used in medical procedures.

Your new job

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Development of packaging components and assemblies for medical devices. 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cross-functional, cross-divisional project teams focusing on design, technology and process. 

  • Develop technical documentation including design specs, input requirements, validations and technical reports in accordance with quality system requirements. 

  • Support issue investigations and corrective actions. 

  • Actively collaborate with Packaging and Labelling peers across the company to identify and implement best practices. 

  • Possess and utilise knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging and labelling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification. 

  • Use project management skills to gain alignment, lead cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement projects that focus on “best in class” outcomes. 

  • Provide guidance, coaching and training to others within the packaging engineering team. 

What are we looking for?

  • A level 8 Degree in Engineering / Science or a related discipline, a Master's is desirable, but not essential. 

  • 5 years’ packaging and labelling experience in a highly regulated manufacturing industry. 

  • Experience in biomedical materials, processing knowledge and medical packaging design procedures.

  • A proven track record in innovative package design, product development and manufacturing.

  • An individual who always displays integrity and has strong business ethics. 

  • Collaborates strongly across organisational boundaries. 

  • Translates complexity into simplicity and articulates succinctly and clearly. 

  • Takes accountability for their work and delivers consistently on their actions. 

  • Passionate and driven, with the ability to make tough decisions in difficult situations.
