A well-established and global beverage manufacturing company who have a long-standing history of producing high-end drinks in the midlands is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their team at their cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Co. Offaly.

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will report directly to the EHS Director for Ireland and the UK and oversee health and safety operations at the company’s manufacturing site. You will look to continually drive improvements in health and safety compliance in accordance with company policy and champion health and safety best practices at all times.

Your new job:

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Continuously develop and refine the ongoing strategy for Health and Safety, through the evaluation of statistical data and knowledge of industry best practices.

  • Advise and actively support the site teams in all legislative H&S matters.

  • Support the development of H&S strategies through the proactive evaluation of statistical data, knowledge of current and forthcoming legislative requirements and business-specific objectives.

  • Identify and assess business risks and propose effective processes and controls to manage and mitigate those risks.

  • Provide reports on H&S performance through data and metrics to relevant business leaders, identifying any concerning trends and propose corrective actions.

  • Manage COMAH compliance and demonstrate a practical understanding of process safety matters.

  • Control site operations from a H&S perspective ensuring adherence to internal procedures at all times including Permit to Work, Control of Contractors, Risk Assessment, Emergency Response, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, and delivery of projects.

  • Provide occupational health surveillance support.

  • Deliver H&S training (regulatory/awareness) as set out in company policies.

  • Seek to continually drive improvement within the Health & Safety Management Systems.

  • Coordinate the work of external regulators, auditors and/or third-party consultants.

  • Agree on H&S actions locally and with business leaders.

  • Follow, comply and promote all company processes, standards, and guidelines and report any non-conformances.

  • Work collaboratively with peers and colleagues and implement new processes from the findings of data and projects.

What you’ll need

  • A recognised third-level qualification in Occupational Health and Safety

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry with COMAH / EPA experience is highly desirable.

  • Experience in conducting thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences and reporting and recommending corrective actions.

  • Strong track record of successfully improving health and safety compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve collective business objectives.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to influence others in a positive manner.

  • Excellent relationship builder who can work with a wide variety of personnel from different disciplines and backgrounds.

  • Proven ability to interpret and analyse data effectively and implement health and safety improvements in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 and 45001 standards.

  • IT literate – Competent in the use of all MS software packages.
