What you need to know

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Epidemiologist for our client.

This role is a 3 month contract.

The role is based in Dublin or Meath.

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic vision for the Epidemiology function and provide expertise in the development of a public health information and surveillance strategy

  • Develop, implement and evaluate health and healthcare needs

  • Responsibility for reporting KPI’s for the department

  • Oversee and conduct in-depth epidemiological analyses and make appropriate recommendations

  • Lead on the development of new techniques for the analysis and presentation of data

  • Lead on and manage the epidemiological aspects of population health needs assessments

  • Provide advanced epidemiological and statistical expertise and support to research studies

  • Be highly proficient in a range of software/tools used to conduct epidemiological analysis including the application of statistics, mapping and network analysis

What are we looking for?

  • Hold a post-graduate NFQ level 9 qualification, or higher, in one of the following:

(a)Epidemiology

(b)Public Health

(c)Microbiology and/or Infectious Diseases

(d)Biological Sciences

(e)Biomedical Sciences

(f)   Health Informatics

(g)Other relevant health sciences subject

  • Have at least six years’ experience working in applying epidemiological/surveillance methods

  • Experience in implementing and managing surveillance systems and in applying epidemiological methods in a healthcare context

  • Experience in supervising, mentoring and training staff

  • Expertise in the design and implementation of epidemiological investigations

  • Advanced ability to analyse and interpret complex epidemiological and statistical data

  • Ability to promote the acceptance of findings of epidemiologic and statistical studies

  • A high level of competence carrying out statistical analysis and working with statistical software

  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills
