About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Cork/Waterford area. This pivotal role involves managing the cost, procurement, and financial aspects of engineering projects from inception through to completion. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labour, and resources based on project specifications. Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Procurement & Tendering: Assist in the tendering process, evaluate bids, and manage supplier and contractor contracts. Ensure procurement processes are efficient and cost-effective.

  • Quantity Take-offs & Measurement: Conduct precise quantity take-offs and measurements from piping isometrics and P&ID drawings, ensuring accuracy in material and resource planning.

  • Contract Administration: Review contracts, manage variations, and resolve disputes to ensure compliance and protect project interests.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential cost overruns and risks, proposing solutions to mitigate them.

  • Project Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, change orders, and final accounts. Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to stakeholders.


Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a strong focus on engineering projects.

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics and P&ID drawings. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and procurement processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.


Desirable Attributes

  • Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., SCSI, RICS) is advantageous.

  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of cost control and financial management tools.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
