QC Laboratory Lead
What you need to know:
Matrix Recruitment are currently seeking a QC Laboratory Lead to join a well-established team in the medical device manufacturing sector in County Galway. This is a permanent Monday – Friday position.
Your New Job:
As QC Laboratory Lead (reporting into the site quality manager), you will lead and coordinate Quality Control activities while ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. You will support continuous improvement, maintain audit readiness, and uphold high-quality testing standards. Your leadership will ensure reliable, accurate, and compliant lab operations.
QC Laboratory Lead Responsibilities:
Lead and maintain ISO 17025 Quality Management System ensuring full compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across all QC laboratory activities.
Coordinate and supervise all QC testing operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, staff development, and ensuring KPI targets and company objectives are met.
Oversee laboratory documentation and compliance processes, including SOP updates, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and product/batch release based on verified test results.
Act as primary QC representative in audits and reviews, supporting timely closure of non-conformances, managing internal and external audit activities, and reporting lab performance trends.
Drive training, technical support, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring staff competency, validated methods, reliable equipment, and seamless collaboration with QA, Production, and customers.
What are we looking for?
Educational & Technical Background: Relevant third-level qualification with working knowledge of ISO 17025, GDocP, and experience in ISO-regulated environments.
Leadership & Project Management: Proven experience in supervisory roles and successful track record in managing projects and leading teams.
Audit & Compliance Skills: Ability to conduct effective audits with flexibility to travel; auditor certification (e.g. ISO 17025, ISO 9001) is a plus.
Regulatory & Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with IVDD/IVDR regulations, Irish EHS legislation, validation practices, and QMS software systems.
