Matrix Recruitment are seeking to recruit a Mechanical Technician/Fitter for our multinational client, based in Co. Kildare.

Easy commute from Carlow, Kildare, Laois areas.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance of plant, equipment and auxiliary services, electrical and mechanical trouble shooting.

  • Execute & improve the PM programme through scheduled PM’s based on risk assessment and performance reliability.

  • Minimise downtime on equipment, effective root cause analysis and good problem-solving to eliminate recurring issues.

  • Responsible for mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, incorporating pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.

  • Fabricate mechanical components, replace seals & mechanical seals, verify pump alignment as required to ensure equipment functions to its optimum.

  • Identification, quantification, implementation and presentation of equipment continuous improvement projects.

  • Ensure equipment uptime is maintained and maintenance requests are logged on the (CMMS).

  • Review of maintenance weekly plan based on availability of resources.

  • Work closely with the production team supporting them and providing advice, also participating in staff training and development.

  • Ensure full compliance of external contractors when on site.

  • Participate in quality investigation.

  • Participate in review of hazards and safety or environmental incident investigations.

  • Ensure that all resources (people and equipment) are utilized to maximum efficiency and report any equipment defects/breakdowns.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 5 years working in a manufacturing/production setting.

  • Senior Trade Qualification or National Diploma/Degree in Mechatronics/Fitter/Maintenance.

  • Knowledge of mechanical & electrical process plant & maintenance activities.

  • Knowledge of Alan Bradley PLC’s, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet & Profibus communications protocols.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ATEX.

  • Familiar with SCADA process control systems for process and fault diagnosis

  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, ERP/CRM and outlook desirable.
