What you need to know

A growing and leading manufacturer of plastic packaging that has an outstanding reputation for supplying quality products to its customers in Ireland and Europe is currently seeking an experienced and committed Maintenance Manager to join their team.

As a Maintenance Manager, you will report directly to the Technical and Quality Director on-site and manage the maintenance and operation of all equipment on-site ensuring all production equipment meets expected levels of output and performance. 

This is a permanent role with an excellent salary and package and is based Co. Cavan.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all plant, equipment, and machinery are regularly inspected and meet SHE standards and legislative requirements.

  • Identify health and safety risks and ensure that all personnel are following safe working policies.

  • Continually improve plant and equipment performance in terms of reliability, downtime, and machine-induced quality problems.

  • Recruit, develop, motivate, and manage a maintenance team that maximises its performance potential. (circa 20 on the team)

  • Manage the development and implementation of the preventative maintenance program to maximise machine utilisation and minimise breakdown costs.

  • Ensure that buildings and services are maintained to an acceptable level and within budget.

  • Control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense, and consumables within the approved budget for the department and provide early indications of any potential variances.

  • Continually improve the efficiency of the resources within the maintenance department implementing.

  • Manage site contractors to ensure safe working practices are applied and work is carried out within agreed terms of reference and time scales.

  • Assist with capital projects to ensure efficient installation and commissioning within the agreed budget and time scale.

What are we looking for?

  • Engineering qualifications (ideally Electrical engineering with PLC experience of Rockwell, Siemens and Allen Bradley) 

  • It would be desirable but not essential that the candidate will have engineering technical skills and knowledge relevant to Plastics processing equipment and processes

  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in managing/supervising a maintenance function. 

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronic/electrical automation controls.

  • Experience in implementing, reviewing, and amending preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven people management skills.

  • Strong communicator who can influence others in a positive manner. 

  • Track record of developing and mentoring colleagues. 

  • Strong commercial acumen and comfortable managing maintenance budgets management and tracking costs. 

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and HACCP.
