What you need to know:

Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Fitter for our client based in County Westmeath who are a leading manufacturer company.  This is a permanent, full-time position (Monday to Friday) with limited on-call responsibilities.

Your New Job:

The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of mechanical equipment used in a continuous production environment. This role involves working with a range of machinery, including systems for material handling, processing, and finishing. It requires a hands-on professional with solid mechanical expertise, a proactive attitude, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine, planned, and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including conveyors, motors, and web handling systems.

  • Diagnose and repair faults on high-speed production lines to minimize downtime.

  • Install, align, and commission new machinery and upgrades to existing equipment.

  • Maintain and calibrate critical components such as tensioning systems and pneumatics.

  • Work collaboratively with production teams while ensuring strict compliance with HSE standards.

What are we looking for?

  • QQI Level 6 (National Craft Certificate) in Mechanical Fitting, Maintenance, or related trade, with 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.

  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, and rotating equipment.

  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.

  • Safety-conscious with excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on, team-oriented approach.

  • Desirable: experience in web-based manufacturing, basic welding/fabrication, Lean/TPM practices, and familiarity with PLC systems.
