Would you like to work for a well-established transport/logistics company in Athlone, Co. Westmeath?

I am working closely with my client in the search for an experienced Data Administrator to join their team.

You will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of our database systems.

This is a permanent job with company benefits.

 

Your new job

 

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Database Maintenance and Administration

    • Install, configure, and patch database environments, including Progress OE12, MySQL, and MSSQL.

    • Automate recurring DBA tasks to improve efficiency.

    • Build and maintain Test and Pre-production database environments.

    • Database maintenance tasks.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues.

    • Optimise database queries and stored procedures

    • Implement database performance tuning techniques.

  • Security and Integrity:

    • Assist in maintaining database security protocols and procedures.

    • Manage database security and ensure data integrity

  • Collaboration and Education:

    • Schema design choices

    • Educate team members on best practices for writing efficient queries.

    • Develop and update comprehensive technical documentation

 What are we looking for?

  • At least 4-5 years experience working as a Data Administrator.

  • 3rd Level Qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Experience with Progress OpenEdge, including architecture, replication, monitoring, troubleshooting, and backups.

  • Experience managing MySQL in a Linux Failover Cluster environment.

  • Experience managing SQL Server in a Windows Failover Cluster environment.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and stored procedures, with the ability to optimise and troubleshoot complex queries.

  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimisation techniques.

  • Experience in backup and restore operations, database refreshes, and performance tuning.

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems is an advantage.

  • Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting) is a plus.
