What you need to know

Our client, a leading designing and manufacturing company in Co. Westmeath are seeking a Controls Manager to join their growing organisation.

This is a permanent position, working week Monday – Friday.

The Controls Manager will be responsible for overseeing the controls team and will report directly to the General Manager.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Communicate with clients to understand their requirements and contribute to the development of concepts and proposals for equipment.

  • Oversee the design and creation of machine control systems that adhere to customer specifications and comply with company and industry standards, particularly EU safety regulations.

  • Procure materials, components, hardware, and other resources that align with project needs, timelines, and budgets.

  • Coordinate the timely integration of control systems within the overall project framework.

  • Plan, develop, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and Servo software, primarily focusing on Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC types (if conducted by colleagues or subcontractors).

  • Manage the development and integration of robot programs, predominantly using ABB and Robot Studio (if conducted by colleagues or subcontractors).

  • Conduct testing, optimization, commissioning, and installation of equipment to meet customer expectations, including necessary travel for project completion.

  • Ensure completion of all requisite project documentation and compilation of Technical Files to meet CE and customer specifications.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree at Level 8 in electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, or a similar field.

  • Alternatively, an experienced electrician with substantial additional training and expertise in automation and machine construction would also be considered appropriate.

  • The applicant should possess a valid passport and a valid full driver's license.

  • Proficiency in German would be advantageous.

  • Leadership experience.

  • Capable of developing control systems for automated machinery; assess and authorize control systems created by team members.

  • Comprehend colleagues' mechanical concepts and machine operations, with proficiency in CE safety standards, preferably possessing CMSE certification.
