​What you need to know

A leading and innovative plastics manufacturer in Co. Westmeath that is going through a period of exciting growth is seeking a driven and experienced Controls Engineer to join its team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Lead Automation & Robotics Engineer. 

As a Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in contributing to the company’s success. You will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of automated finishing and assembly equipment. 

The company are leaders in their field who design, develop and manufacture quality components for some of the world’s most renowned automotive and medical devices companies.

Your new job

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement control programs for automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, servos, and instrumentation devices.

  • Liaise with the design team to specify control system hardware requirements.

  • Research and coordinate the introduction and implementation of new control technologies.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to systematically debug and optimize machine programs.

  • Communicate effectively with different project team members to ensure alignment and progress.

  • Ensure project timelines and targets are met.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Honors degree (Level 8) in a Engineering or controls orientated discipline

  • At least three years of experience in a similar role.

  • Exposure to programming control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and servos.

  • Ability to configure communication systems and networks.

  • Strong understanding of machine controls and ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings.

  • Drive and willingness to learn and a proactive in current and future projects.
