What you need to know

Our client, who provides innovative products and services to many of the world’s largest medical device and pharmaceutical companies, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to join its team in Galway City.

As an Operations Manager, you will be a senior leader at the plant and take a flexible and innovative approach to achieving results. You will be responsible for efficiently running day-to-day operations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and goals of the business unit you’re working in and lead several cross-functional teams working on critical continuous improvement projects.

This is a permanent role with an excellent salary and package.

 

Your new job

Duties & responsibilities:

Safety

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and driving safety standards and cultural safety improvements throughout the site.

  • Work with the HSSE Advisor and HSSE Manager when required.

  • Reporting, trending, investigating, and actioning all unsafe acts and conditions, near misses and incidents.

  • Achieving all local H&S reporting targets as agreed with the Senior Manager.

  • Hosting the local monthly HSSE committee meeting.

  • Maintaining a coverage plan for Fire Marshals, First Aiders and Manual Handling Coaches.

Quality

  • Ensure all work at the plant is carried out in compliance with ISO17025 accreditation requirements and internal procedures.

  • Host both regulatory and customer audits.

  • Lead investigations into non-conformances and complaints, ensuring they are logged timely, root causes identified, and corrective/preventive actions implemented, in conjunction with the Quality team.

  • Ensuring that the required initial and continuing training of department personnel is carried out and adapted according to need.

 

Delivery

  • Direct the performance and productivity of the site, managing operational performance in line with agreed site KPIs.

  • Being proactive in resolving situations to support turnaround time adherence and testing requirements.

  • Taking responsibility for anticipating and addressing issues that might affect safety, compliance, output, or business ethics.

  • Ensure the team is kept motivated and always informed, maintaining strong levels of communication whilst promoting an inclusive, participative, and engaged culture.

  • Facilitate Customer visits when required.

 

What are we looking for?

  • A Third level qualification in Science, Engineering or another relevant discipline.

  • A proven ability to lead dynamic and multi-disciplinary teams in an innovative and results-driven environment.

  • Strong commercial acumen and a strong understanding of financial metrics and performance.

  • Strong Customer facing skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including cooperation and teamwork.

  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
