HGV Mechanic

A leading food manufacturing business, well-established in Ireland and recognised as a household brand, is seeking to strengthen its fleet maintenance team. With a proud history of serving customers nationwide, the company is now recruiting a qualified and experienced HGV Mechanic to join its team in County Longford.

Your New Job:
As an HGV Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the company’s transport fleet. Your responsibilities will include carrying out fault diagnosis, routine servicing, maintenance, and repair work on a varied fleet comprising vans, rigid and articulated trucks, and trailers.


HGV Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on commercial vehicles.

• Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing, and pre-NCT/CVRT inspections to manufacturer standards.

• Ensure efficient, high-quality, and safe completion of all repairs and maintenance tasks.

• Accurately complete documentation and support fleet availability for transport and operations teams.

• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant workshop environment.

What are we looking for?

• Formal qualification in vehicle maintenance (National Craft Certificate, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ relevant experience.

• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.

• Good time management with the ability to prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.

• Rigid and articulated driving licences are an advantage but not essential.
