What You Need to Know:
Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Head of Compliance for our client, a global investment banking company based in Dublin City Centre.
This is a 12 month contract position with a global leader and offers an excellent experience to head up compliance for the Dublin branch of business. Some hybrid working arrangement available.
Your New Job:
As Head of Compliance, you will act as the primary point of contact with the Central Bank of Ireland, managing regulatory engagement, supervisory interactions, and ensuring the branch operates fully within its permissions.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you will provide expert regulatory guidance to senior stakeholders, influence decision-making, and ensure a strong compliance culture is embedded across the business. You will also oversee compliance monitoring and testing activities, support financial crime frameworks in collaboration with the MLRO, and take ownership of the branch’s data privacy obligations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the compliance function, ensuring appropriate expertise, structure, and capability within the team
- Act as the primary liaison with the Central Bank of Ireland, managing regulatory correspondence, supervisory reviews, and inspections
- Provide strategic regulatory advisory to senior management, interpreting regulatory developments and assessing business impact
- Ensure all business activity is conducted within regulatory permissions and aligned to applicable frameworks
- Oversee and enhance the compliance monitoring and testing programme, ensuring effective controls and timely remediation of issues
- Identify, assess, and escalate compliance risks, ensuring appropriate governance and reporting structures are in place
- Support and collaborate with the MLRO and Financial Crime teams on AML/CFT frameworks and obligations
- Act as Data Privacy Lead for the branch, managing incidents, regulatory engagement, and alignment with group policies
- Contribute to governance forums and committees, providing constructive challenge and supporting effective decision-making
- Drive a strong compliance culture through training, awareness, and ongoing engagement with the business
- Support regulatory change initiatives, new products, and business developments from a compliance perspective
What Are We Looking For?:
- Significant experience in a senior compliance leadership role within a regulated financial services environment
- Strong working knowledge of Central Bank of Ireland requirements and broader EU regulatory frameworks
- Proven ability to engage with regulators and manage supervisory relationships and inspections
- Experience overseeing compliance monitoring/testing frameworks and driving control improvements
- Solid understanding of AML/CFT and financial crime frameworks, working in partnership with MLRO functions
- Experience operating at senior stakeholder level, with the ability to influence and challenge effectively
- Strong knowledge of data protection / GDPR requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
