Our client, a leading technology solutions provider, is seeking a Field-Based IT Engineer to join their Service & Support team.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working across client sites in Tipperary, Waterford, and Kilkenny.
In this role, you will provide on-site and remote technical support, deliver small to medium IT projects, and ensure the highest standards of customer service. You’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving client IT environments, working with technologies such as Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Fortinet firewalls, and Ubiquiti wireless systems.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to client locations, with occasional collaboration from the company’s base or home office.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Deliver on-site and remote IT support to clients across the region.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot end-user hardware, software, and networking equipment.

Manage small-scale projects independently and assist senior engineers on larger deployments.

Configure and maintain servers, firewalls, VPNs, and backup systems.

Support and administer Microsoft 365 environments, including email management and file permissions.

Document client networks, configurations, and system changes accurately.

Participate in pre-project planning and client briefings to ensure clear scope and expectations.

Take ownership of assigned tasks through to resolution, providing regular updates to clients.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members where required.

Assist with pre-sales technical input and contribute to project scoping and planning.

Stay current with new technologies and pursue continuous professional development.
What Are We Looking For?
-
A third-level qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
-
Minimum 2+ years’ experience in an IT support or field service engineering role, ideally within an MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment.

Strong working knowledge of:
-
Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environments
-
Networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, switching, VLANs, and routing

Firewall configuration, preferably Fortinet (FortiGate)

Wireless technologies, preferably Ubiquiti

Data backup, recovery, and antivirus systems
-

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.

Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements.

Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel across Tipperary, Waterford, and Kilkenny.
Desirable Certifications

CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, or Fortinet certifications.

Experience with Dell server technologies and project delivery.
