A leading Irish food manufacturer that has a proud reputation for producing high-quality and award-winning produce is currently seeking an experienced and diligent EHS Specialist to join its team in Co. Longford.

As an EHS Specialist, you will report directly to the EHS Manager and have a direct impact on the development and direction of the company's EHS policies and initiatives. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with the EHS Manager and other departments to promote, facilitate and educate on EHS best practices and continuously drive improvement on-site.

Your new job

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Facilitate nd coordinate environmental/safety meetings and activities monthly.

  • Maintain and administer the company safety manuals, standards, procedures, and other related H&S documents and training documentation.

  • Deliver and complete statutory notifications to the HSA for all accident/incident reporting.

  • Analyse data and analytics relating to EHS matters and present information on KPIs to senior management.

  • Use information and metrics to make well-founded decisions on new policies, procedures and initiatives to improve the site's EHS performance.

  • Ensure records of statutory inspections are kept for all activities and plant equipment.

  • Carry out regular site safety audits, risk assessments and document the findings for management, and implement necessary corrective actions.

  • Management of accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and ensuring remedial actions are put in place.

  • Facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and review of the H&S policies and implementation of new company safety procedures, as required.

  • Assist in developing delivery and maintenance of in-house safety training programs, including manual handling, fire/evacuation training.

  • Delivering H&S induction programs for new employees/contractors.

  • Support system audit and inspection requirements of EHS Management Systems.

  • Monitor Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety Legislation and developments to keep the business up to date.

 

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 1 -2 years’ experience as an EHS Specialist / Advisor in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Diploma/BSc/MSc in Environment, Health, and Safety Discipline.

  • Competency in carrying out investigations, audits, and inspections and compiling reports and recommendations as appropriate.

  • Excellent knowledge of environmental, health and safety legislation and the ability to implement procedures that comply with legislation.

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing corrective actions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others positively.

  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and meet tight deadlines.

  • Passionate about continuously improving EHS performance and has a demonstrated track record of positively contributing to EHS strategies and objectives.
