My client is looking to hire a Distribution Manager for their manufacturing operation based in Co. Cavan.

The Distribution Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the overall management of transport and warehouse operations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods to our customers, managing costs, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Transport and Warehouse function.

Your new job

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Transport and Warehouse Function.

  • Engage and motivate staff to deliver “best in class” performance in day-to-day duties.

  • Collaborate closely with all functions in the Customer Supply department to meet customer standards and expectations.

  • Manage the performance of direct and indirect reportees systematically and professionally.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support for staff development and training initiatives.

  • Assess distribution team staff and skills requirements, developing plans to address gaps.

  • Develop site departmental plans aligned with business objectives, focusing on customer service targets, cost control, and H&S requirements.

  • Drive innovative approach to continuous improvement, identifying and implementing efficiencies in day-to-day operations.

  • Recommend and implement systems to improve operational and distribution efficiencies.

  • Manage budget and cost reconciliation process, including haulier self-billing and 3PL storage costing.

  • Raise and approve POs for the department.

  • Liaise with production, 3PL facilities, and other relevant stakeholders for effective communication.

  • Provide regular reports on shipping, production volumes, storage figures and other areas of performance.

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Environmental are adhered to.

What are we looking for?

  • Education to masters or degree level.

  • At least 3+ years at management level and up to 10 years’ experience in Warehousing, Transportor supply chain, ideally in a manufacturing/industry sector.

  • Experience in leading and managing a warehouse and distribution function with a proven experience in driving performance improvement and KPI management.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong experience in ERP software (ideally SAP).

  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to act operationally and strategically.
