What you need to know
Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Commercial Legal Counsel for our client, based in Kildare.

In this position, you work with a leading Irish company and will be part of the renewable energy business department.

In this role, you will work with the Legal Manager providing legal services to key units within the business. You will also support the Renewable Energy Business Unit in the provision of general legal advice and services to facilitate the achievement of its commercial and strategic goals.

This is a permanent position.

Key duties & responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Legal Manager to manage the legal and governance work streams of strategic projects and transactions
  • Provide advice to the Renewable Energy Business Unit on corporate governance matters
  • Assess governance requirements and obtain necessary approvals, draft appropriate documents, and provide advice on general corporate governance issues
  • Advise your Unit on legal issues affecting all aspects of their commercial and operational activities and recommend appropriate courses of action
  • Participate in the management and mitigation of risks
  • Draft, review and advise on commercial agreements and liaise with external counsel on specialist matters where required
  • Advise on planning and environmental matters and assist with GDPR and AIE requests that may arise in relation to the Business Unit
  • Monitor and manage the legal budget for projects or transactions.
  • Liaise with all key stakeholders to ensure that projects/transactions are delivered in accordance with timelines and objective
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with legal colleagues in other Business Units to share information and ensure consistency of approach on legal-related matters
  • Adhere to all company health and safety policies

What are we looking for?
  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
  • 4 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Mid/top tier firm or in-house role
  • Experience in energy-related matters or large infrastructure projects and commercial contracts is an advantage
  • Proven skills in team working
  • MS Office Suite and familiarity with Legal Case Management Systems an advantage
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
