What you need to know
Our client who provides innovative products and services to many of the world’s largest medical device and pharmaceutical companies is currently looking to add an Automation & Controls Engineer.

As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you will report directly to the Operations and Engineering Managers on site and work with them collaboratively to accelerate the implementation of new technologies on-site to improve performance.

You will be a subject matter expert and play a critical role in the development of the site’s new plant as well as helping to enhance the current site’s performance. As a subject matter expert, you will be involved in the development, project management, contractor selection and supervisor of engineering projects designed to increase capacity and improve operational performance.

Your new job

  • Provide guidance, support, and direction to engineering facility teams, and facility maintenance/operations teams and be a technical expert for multiple engineering projects.

  • Work collaboratively with suppliers on accelerator and conveyor technologies (hardware and software), conveyor transportation technologies and automated warehousing.

  • Act as a source of information for other sites internationally and share your knowledge of conveyors, automated warehousing, and conveyor control systems with teams across Europe.

  • Work directly with vendors and suppliers to select electrical components/subassemblies that comply with machine requirements and specifications.  

  • Plan, organise, and conduct technical projects, e.g., building control systems, machine/process equipment systems, process cooling systems and electrical facilities. 

  • Plan and conduct process equipment evaluations and upgrades.

  • Obtain information for the design and development of components, assemblies and other operating equipment through manufacturer’s information, technology, databases, consultants, and contractors. 

  • Keep up to date on new technical developments within your area of expertise.

  • Manage project teams including meetings, documentation, budget, and communication materials.

  • Support company initiatives relating to Quality, Innovation, Sustainability and Lean.

 

What are we looking for?

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • Experience with electrical engineering development tools, such as Excel, Visio/AutoCAD/EPLAN, Altium/OrCAD, SPICE 

  • Experience with LEAN or Continuous Improvement methodology is an advantage.

  • 5 years plus of related electrical/electronic engineering experience. 

  • 5 years plus experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is desirable.

  • Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Ability to work well independently and autonomously.

  • Self-motivated individual who is result-focused and enjoys working in a team environment to achieve collective goals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to concisely articulate their technical concepts.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Track record of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams (Operations, Technical, Quality)

  • Strong knowledge of Process Excellence tools (Lean Manufacturing; 5S, 7 Wastes,) and methodologies.
