Matrix Recruitment is seeking candidates for a Site Quality Director for our regulated manufacturing client based in Waterford

This is a senior, on-site role leading QA/QC operations across two manufacturing sites, with a strong emphasis on Quality Control and daily operational execution. The role is critical in driving product quality, compliance, and performance through hands-on leadership and cross-functional collaboration.



Your New Role
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop large QA/QC teams across both sites.
  • Build and maintain a strong culture of compliance, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all products meet quality and regulatory expectations; understand how daily decisions impact final goods.
  • Stay inspection-ready at all times — lead audits from authorities like HPRA and SGS.
  • Improve lab and quality system performance through clear KPIs and smart process enhancements.
  • Manage budget, headcount planning, and hiring within the QA/QC function.
  • Drive alignment between teams across both sites, keeping consistency and quality standards high.
  • Own EHS responsibility in labs and QA/QC areas.
  • Represent Quality at the senior leadership level — bring clarity, influence, and high standards to the SLT.

What You Need:
  • Proven experience leading large QA/QC teams (ideally 100+ people).
  • Someone who has worked across operations & quality.
  • Experience directly managing other managers and working across multiple sites.
  • Strong background in pharmaceutical/healthcare manufacturing, with deep QA and QC knowledge.
  • Comfortable making high-stakes decisions and driving improvement in complex environments.
  • Skilled at balancing quality expectations with business and operational needs.
  • Strong communicator — able to explain technical issues in plain language to all levels.
  • Solid understanding of audit processes, compliance systems, GMP, and lab testing environments.
  • Previous budget and headcount ownership is essential.
  • Experience leading in cross-functional teams or site leadership teams.
