Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

What you need to know

Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant for our client, in the financial services industry, based in Limerick.

In this position you will be responsible for assisting with the review of financial statements across the department in addition to identifying and implementing best practice across teams. You will also work with the management team with regards to client servicing, new business opportunities and client due diligence presentations.
This position will suit you if you are a qualified accountant that has done financial reporting and has experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements.

This is a 12-month contract position with some possibility of extension or other opportunities within the team. The role offers a hybrid model.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying and interpreting changes to accounting standards and regulations that will impact the client allocation within the department. Also, the role will involve liaising with external audit firms to develop solutions regarding the impact of such changes.

  • Responsible in assisting with the review of financial statements across the department in addition to identifying and implementing best practice across teams.

  • Work with the management team with regards to client servicing, new business opportunities and client due diligence presentations.

  • Responsible for the reviewing and delivery of financial statements as required to ensure they are compliant with current accounting and regulatory requirements.

  • Represent the Financial Reporting team at relevant external forums.

  • Identify training and development needs and establish performance standards for the department.

  • Guide staff in the resolution of non-routine and complex financial reporting issues.

  • Instil a client service culture among staff and ensure that all clients receive a quality service.

  • Liaise with Compliance and other relevant internal stakeholders where required.


What are we looking for?

  • A fully qualified accountant.

  • Proven experience in the investment management industry acquired through working in the fund administration, asset management or securities operations industry or audit industry.

  • Financial reporting experience.

  • Strong communication, first class presentation and internal/ external client servicing skills.

  • Irish/UK GAAP and IFRS experience.

  • Working knowledge of the Irish regulatory regime and external client servicing skills.

  • Working knowledge of the Irish regulatory regime as it relates to Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting.

  • Be an effective communicator, motivator, coach and mentor.

  • Takes initiative to improve areas of immediate responsibilities.

  • IT proficient.
