What you need to know

A leading food manufacturer with a proud heritage of producing some of the most recognisable and best-tasting food products in Ireland is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Quality Manager to join its team in Co. Offaly.

As Quality Manager, you report directly to the Head of Technical and manage a team of quality professionals to ensure that Quality Systems are maintained in line with the group, regulatory body, and customer standards.

This is an important position for the company, and they will give you the autonomy and support to develop the quality department and continually improve standards.

Your new job

Duties & responsibilities:

•Manage compliance of BRC, BORD BIA, HACCP, Karro group and customer food standards.

•Co-ordinate training to enable all departments to deliver their quality and food safety requirements to a competent level.

•Lead quality incident investigations to establish root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

•Lead all site activities to prevent and control all non-conformances.

•Completion of internal, group and customer reports.

•Identify, review and implement improvements to the QMS frequently.

•Management of Internal Auditing Systems.

•Ensure approval details and specifications are maintained for all suppliers.

•Lead 3rd party customer and regulatory audits for the site.

•Leadership role in the HACCP team.

•Work with the NPD and Quality teams ensuring that product development trials and activities are introduced and managed in a controlled fashion.

•Manage the ongoing development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems related to Quality and environmental requirements.

•Train, guide and coach the QA team so that they’re continually developing their professional knowledge and skills.

•Primary contact for QA team queries and reporting any unresolved issues to the Head of Technical.

•Act as deputy for the Head of Technical during annual leave/absence.

•Drive and promote a culture of Quality excellence and continuous improvement across the organisation.

•Develop and deliver a programme of continuous improvement initiatives that deliver on Quality and organisational objectives.

•Ability to implement sustained change in a structured, methodical, and controlled manner.

•Develop relationships across the group with your colleagues so that group policies and requirements can be implemented into the day-to-day business.

•Manage and maintain the ISO14001 system in the company.

What are we looking for?

•Third-level degree qualification in a scientific food discipline.

•A minimum of 5 years experience as a Quality Manager in the food manufacturing industry or a similar industry.

•Knowledge of auditing, quality standards and systems, quality management techniques such as HACCP and Process Control, and knowledge of food legislation.

•Familiarity with retailer specification management platforms is an advantage.

•Excellent communication & organisational skills.

•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others positively.

•Self-motivated and an ability to work on own initiative.

•Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships between the quality function and other functions.

•Competency in MS Office to include Word and Excel.
