What you need to know

A very reputable and fast paced Food company in Co. Cavan is currently seeking an experienced Quality Technical Manager to lead and maintain the company’s Quality to the highest of standards.

As the Quality Technical Manager, you will report directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the management, direction, and coordination of all quality and regulatory matters on site for the Retail Division.

Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that the food safety, quality and legality of all products produced is being maintained at all times, complying with customer specifications. Maintain food safety standards that support GFSI (BRC, IFS) and customer standards. Participate in Audits.

  • Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the Food Safety Management system, including the HACCP plan, pre-requisite programme and documented SOPs/SSOPs within the Value Added manufacturing facility.

  • Provide technical expertise and advice in the areas of food safety and legal compliance, working together to overcome business challenges in a busy environment and support the achievement of the business vision.

  • Drive continuous improvement through developing and progressing the current quality systems and operational processes within the business.

  • Manage and develop the Quality Control team.

  • Provide a professional and technical relationship with new and existing customers.

  • Investigate customer complaints with root cause analysis and establishing effective corrective and preventative action to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Supplier approval and annual review, including the monitoring of performance and compliance with specification requirements.

  • Participate in the NPD process

What are we looking for?

  • A bachelor’s degree Food Science / or another relevant technical field. HACCP certification.

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Quality or Technical role within Food or FMCG facility.

  • 3 + years’ experience in a people management role.

  • Knowledge of auditing, quality standards and systems, quality management techniques such as HACCP, Statistical Process Control and knowledge of food legislation and legal procedures

  • Understanding of common problem-solving tools.

  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.

  • Strong IT Skills and experience in report writing
