A leading and reputable company in the packaging industry that manufactures bespoke products for the medical device and pharmaceutical industry in Co. Offaly is currently seeking an experienced and committed Process Engineer to join their team at their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

As a Process Engineer, you will report directly to the Engineering Manager on-site and be responsible for providing technical advice to the production team to improve manufacturing processes, reduce cost, enhance safety and increase the capability of manufacturing equipment.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Support the manufacturing operations in becoming world-class in all aspects.

  • Ensuring that safe working practices are always adhered to.

  • Acquiring knowledge of health and safety procedures, work instructions and associated documentation.

  • Participating in and sometimes leading Lean Six Sigma projects and initiatives.

  • Write, conduct, analyse and report on new or modified equipment capabilities, qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ), and validations.

  • Conducting developmental runs and commercialization qualification trial runs in conjunction with research & development (R&D) and PD functions.

  • Managing the development of new product design and testing in conjunction with R&D.

  • Establishing manufacturing standard operating conditions (SOC) by working effectively with colleagues.

  • Determining the need for and justifying capital projects.

  • Acquiring knowledge of procedures, work instructions and associated forms as required by key area leaders.

  • Troubleshooting daily production and process problems and communicating with the plant management team and supervisors.

  • Identifying, developing and implementing plans associated with, but not limited to, cost reduction, waste reduction, increased throughput and general operational improvement through the use of Six Sigma statistical methods.

What are we looking for?

  • A third-level qualification in engineering (mechanical, chemical or industrial preferred)

  • Strong project management and organizational skills and the ability to maintain projects.

  • Ability to react quickly and logically to manufacturing problems.

  • Ability to apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.

  • A minimum of three years experience in process/manufacturing engineering in a regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communicator (oral and written)

  • Excellent team player who can work well with others in cross-function teams.

  • A logical and methodical thinker who is passionate about improving manufacturing processes.

  • An inquisitive individual who enjoys developing new processes and creating innovative solutions to challenges.

  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO quality management procedures.

  • Experience with Vision System Support would be a distinct advantage but not essential.
