Matrix Recruitmentare seeking to recruit a MechanicalDesign Engineering Project Manager or our client, a well-established SME, based in the Waterford area.

Reporting to the MD, the Mechanical Design Engineering Project Manager, will be responsible for the running & management of the mechanical design team. This is a hands on roll working in a busy, fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have exceptional Project Management experience with the ability to solve engineering issues that may arise.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Pro-active in approach to the management, development, and guidance of the Engineering Team.

  • Manage, track and review projects on a daily basis and prepare update reports for weekly management review.

  • Plan, manage and deliver company strategic objectives and targets.

  • Working with Plant Manager, to ensure an alignment of prioritises in relation to manufacturing schedule and priority order, ensuring the manufacturing equipment operates to an optimum efficiency.

  • Resolve engineering issues which may arise within projects.

  • Work with customers and suppliers to ensure that project solutions, and processes are designed, developed, and delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding new business and the development of proposals for their reviews.

  • Ensuring clients expectations are understood and delivered.

  • Develop and present design concepts to both established and new clients.

  • Development and management of project financial plans, ensuring each project is tracked and completed within budget.

  • Working with MD and Plant Manager to develop agreed project quotations and timelines for clients.

  • Continuously promote and implement a culture of improvement and development on site.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent degree.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an engineering or design role, with at least 5 years at a senior management level, ideally within a medical devices or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong leadership experience, proven track record leading a busy multidiscipline engineering function.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Hands on experience with machinery design and build projects.

  • Experience with (CAD) platforms- Solid works.

  • Ability to balance business, customer, and team needs.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and project management skills.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills.

  • Flexible thinking.
