​What you need to know

Our client an Irish company are seeking a Materials Manager for one of their sites in Westmeath. This company works within the telecoms industry and experienced a significant growth last year.

They are now keen to hire a Materials Manager to manage the supply of materials. The is a new job within the company, the job requires collaboration with managers/contractors to monitor material usage, produce reports to identify order levels.

This is a permanent job.

Your new job

Key Duties

  • Working closely with the Stores Manager to assist with formulating a strategy for material usage on different sites across the country.

  • Work closely with the project teams to arrange for drawdown of material BOM from the customer and liaise directly with suppliers to arrange delivery of materials to various locations countrywide.

  • Participate in the stock inventory processes to identify stock re-order levels and utilisation of any surplus materials.

  • Produce material variation reports for the drawdown of additional materials identified.

  • Participate in periodic stocktakes to report on the physical stock stored in all locations, identify closing stock position vs material usage data.

  • Keep daily contact with managers and contractors to discuss any material deficits identified, resulting from materials issued to them and material usage submitted by them.

  • Identify material wastage and reduce.

  • Manage the procurement of consumables, negotiate best prices and terms.

  • Participate in the upkeep and participate in the audits of the quality assurance system.

  • Participate in new projects to support the Stores manager by setting goals and objectives.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain / Business Studies/Engineering

  • At least 2 + years working as a Materials Manager preferably within construction, engineering or manufacturing

  • Experience with SAP or JD Edwards or similar.

  • Excellent organisational, communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in MS Office particularly excel.
