What you need to know
A highly reputable and global company in the building materials sector that creates, manufactures and markets high-quality and sustainable products, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Maintenance Manager to join its team in Co. Monaghan.
As a Maintenance Manager, you will report directly to the Plant Manager on-site and effectively manage a maintenance team to maximise the performance of equipment, reduce downtime, support process improvements, and meet production goals.
This is a permanent role with an excellent salary and package.
Your new job
Duties & responsibilities:
Full responsibility and accountability for the maintenance department.
Ensuring plant site, buildings, machinery, and services, are maintained and in optimum condition to meet production targets.
Maintain plant safety compliance, safe standards of maintenance work and equipment upkeep, and statutory equipment certification.
Manage a team of skilled maintenance fitters and electricians by leading by example.
Mentor, coach and guide craftsmen through a hands-on and knowledge-sharing approach, to contribute to the overall performance of the team.
Take a lead role in the development and implementation of lean initiatives.
Coordination of maintenance staff holidays, overtime, attendance, and general performance.
Oversee the maintenance schedule planning, ensuring that plant and equipment are frequently serviced in line with best practices.
Management of spare parts stock control, parts ordering including sourcing of better or cheaper parts and suppliers, and the respect of department budgets.
Management of contractors and external maintenance service providers
Communication with production managers and operators to understand issues and devise appropriate solutions and improvements.
Ensure a rapid and effective response to production equipment problems by developing and implementing appropriate procedures.
Developing new productivity and cost reduction initiatives to improve production equipment performance, cost-effectiveness, and maintenance expenditure optimisation.
Monitor and drive energy efficiency in the consumption of electricity, oil, gas, and water.
What are we looking for?
A degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
A minimum of 5 plus years’ of experience as a Maintenance Manager in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment.
Strong technical knowledge in Mechanical, electrical and automation systems.
Excellent people management skills and a proven track record of successful maintenance teams.
Proven track record of mentoring, developing, and coaching junior employees.
Experience in developing and maintaining spare parts management systems.
A commercially astute individual who has the capability to manage budgets effectively and deliver good value.
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts concisely and give clear instructions to members of staff under your guidance.
Excellent time management skills and can prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong IT skills – Competent on all MS office packages.
