What you need to know

Matrix Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Lead  for our client, a well known healthcare company, based in Co. Offaly.

Your new job

  • Organize day to day planning of laboratory work, scheduling of customer projects in advance. 

  • Identify gaps in lab capability 

  • Mentor junior laboratory technicians

  • Recognize and drive business development opportunities  

  • Creation of quotations for customers based on their requests

  • Recognized as internal expert / trainer in at least one area of testing 

  • Understand limitations of instruments & methods - work with lab customers to understand capability to meet customer need and level of precision required 

  • Improve methods and method repeatability through statistical analysis 

  • Assist with writing and review of quality documentation 

  • Independently develop testing protocols, applying known methods/techniques to solve problems 

  • Chemical and polymer analysis to understand raw materials and competitive products 

  • Provide analytical support for manufacturing to resolve claims or production issues 

  • Work with product development teams in the analysis and development of new products 

  • Advance the capability of the lab - document proposals (scope, plan, cost, relevance) 

  • Evaluation and purchase of new lab instrumentation 

  • Method development (literature review, research & statistical validation) 

  • Understanding and leveraging expertise of partner labs 

  • Responsible for conducting the Annual Management Review meeting

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline

  • At least 3 years experience in a relevant role

  • Strong People Management skills 

  • Experience with ISO 17025 accreditation testing and systems 

  • Proficient with statistical tools such as Gage R&R 

  • Knowledge of polymer materials, processing and packaging terminology
