What you need to know
Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller for our client, in the motor industry, based in Waterford City.

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing all finance matters for the site and will manage a team of 5-6 across the accounts and administration departments. You will also work closely with department managers across the three key departments of Sales, Service and Parts. 
This position is permanent and is based fully on-site.

Your new job:
Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Manage the input and reporting of accounting information in accordance with Manufacturers and statutory requirements.

  • Mentor, lead and support finance employees, providing appropriate training as required.

  • Prepare business plans and budgets, forecasts and cashflows as required.

  • Sign off on period management accounting and statutory accounting reports ensuring completeness and consistency of all figures. 

  • Control of the debtor’s ledger, creditors ledger, nominal ledger and fixed asset register.

  • Responsibility for all taxes under the various headings of VAT, VRT, PRSI, PAYE etc.

  • Liaison with relevant financial institutions, submitting requests and organising funding as required throughout the year.

  • Regular review of a dynamic control system for the business.

  • Providing financial analysis in respect of budget variances, options planning and investments.

  • Liaise with key stakeholders including relevant financial institutions, government bodies and key customers.

  • Managing the various IT systems in use across each department.

  • Responsibility over regulatory compliance for various sectors.


What are we looking for?

  • Third Level Accounting or Business Degree

  • Qualified Accountant with commercial experience

  • Strong knowledge of business operations

  • 5+ years of similar experience

  • Motor Industry Experience Advantageous

  • People management experience

  • Good aptitude for IT systems

  • Ability to challenge performance to lead to improvements
