What you need to know
We are currently seeking a Product Manager for our client, in the manufacturing and commercial industry, based in Kilkenny.

In this position, you will report to the Divisional Product Manager, and you will be a key member of the Product Management Team. You will be responsible for assisting in supporting existing customers, new customer onboarding, and developing product insights to assist in the development of products and go-to-market strategies that meet customers’ needs.

The role offers a hybrid working model with 2 days working from home per week and the hours of work are 8.30 am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4pm on Friday.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Act as a credible product expert on the existing product ranges as well as maintaining a knowledge of competitor equivalent products.
  • Review product performance and trends by category, to share insights to help devise strategies to address future performance improvements around pricing, range management, and channel perspective.
  • Build and map sales by channel.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to prepare strategies to target channel-specific growth opportunities while maintaining and nurturing existing business.
  • Responsible for category managing the portfolio including analysing sales, margin, and volume data to determine performance trends and actions required to address or leverage those trends.
  • Carry out breakeven margin analysis for any price changes to align to market and competitors and present scenarios and then provide recommendations to optimise revenue and volume.
  • Ensure a comprehensive knowledge of current pricing on the product ranges and support future pricing strategies and deployment.
  • Develop clear strategy and product road maps to ensure that the company remains amongst the most innovative players in its industry.
  • Identify market opportunities to create innovative product positioning strategies., supported.
  • Carry out trade visits and interviews to capture the voice of customers and market players so that all product development is customer-led and meets a need in the market.
  • Development of business cases and financial forecasts for new product ranges.
  • Early recognition of trends in the market.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to bring new products to market.
  • Support existing customers with updates to price files, range listings, discounts, as well as product range additions or changes.
  • Understand, explain, and present complex technical and procedural ideas to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Where necessary and required, support for trade fair appearances.
  • Supporting other projects and product or customer initiatives as required.
  • Support customer-specific visits as required across Ireland and the UK.

What are we looking for?
  • Degree or equivalent in management or business preferred.
  • Category management and Product management experience.
  • Experience managing categories of products and demonstratable success of category management techniques.
  • Experience in a similar role with consumer durables or trade-building products.
    Experience in new product customer and market research.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop maintain relationships.
  • Good organisational skills to manage and prioritise varied workloads.
  • Strong skills in diplomacy, problem-solving and decisiveness.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and adept at commercial analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills – particularly using Excel – good numerate ability.
  • Knowledge and experience in Product Marketing systems (PIM)
