What you need to know

You will work as a Buyer for our client, a reputable engineering company in Co. Longford

You will be responsible for all supplier management, inventory management/control, stock accuracy, buying and ensuring stock is there to meet demand. You will report into the Purchasing Manager

This is a 1-year contract initially.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Lead the sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of goods and services.

  • Manage contract negotiations.

  • Assist in resolving invoicing issues. Ability to engage with suppliers to resolve order status issues / invoice disputes.

  • Maintain Supplier Relationships, ensuring Suppliers deliver on service, on time and cost.

  • Work with different departments to ensure value for money is delivered.

  • Support the Purchasing Manager to ensure the smooth running of the purchasing function.

  • Review outstanding purchase orders and follow up delivery status with suppliers.

  • Liaise with stores to ensure all orders arrive on schedule and in good condition.

  • Research potential and alternative vendors

  • Must have a qualification in purchasing or buying.


What are we looking for?

  • 3rd Level Degree in Business/Supply Chain/Engineering ideally.

  • A minimum of 3-4 years’ work experience of purchasing in a manufacturing environment.

  • Contract negotiation.

  • Certification in APICS or related principle.

  • Strong excel experience.

  • Act on own initiative, strong IT, administrative, planning, organisation and communication skills.
