Known for her exceptional relationship-building skills and innovative approach, Rena is dedicated to connecting clients with the perfect candidates, all while embodying the collaborative spirit of our team.
1. What is your background?
I hold an honours degree in business and languages, along with a Certificate in HRM and a Certificate in Recruitment Practice.
With 10 years of experience in agency recruitment, I have partnered with companies of all sizes across various industries and assisted jobseekers in finding roles that align with their preferences.
2. Can you describe your current role - what's your typical day-to-day?
I love that every day is different, bringing new challenges and opportunities to be creative. In many ways, it’s like running your own business—you're responsible for managing your own desk, constantly improving processes, and ensuring both client and candidate satisfaction with each match.
A big part of my day involves partnering with clients to really understand what they’re looking for in a new hire. Each company has unique requirements that make every search a little different.
On the candidate side, I spend my time reviewing CVs, conducting in-depth screenings to understand each person's career goals, and preparing them for interviews. It’s all about finding the perfect fit on both ends—and that keeps things exciting!
Something that people may not know is that my role is not just about finding talent - I also dive into marketing, business development, compliance, strategy, and people leadership which gives me even more variety in my work!
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I love most about my role is helping clients, candidates and our internal recruiters to achieve their goals.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is collaborating with clients to discover hidden or hard-to-find talent.
I enjoy getting creative with recruitment, helping clients find the non-obvious talent matches for their business as well as helping candidates land roles they might not have considered for themselves and then preparing them for interviews.
There's nothing more rewarding than hearing from candidates that my guidance helped them land their dream job!
4. You’ve been part of the Matrix Recruitment team for 10 years now. What is your favourite thing about the team and what are the key reasons you’ve stayed with the company?
We have a great team at Matrix who are genuine and down to earth. Our MD drives values such as accountability and dedication to professional improvement while also fostering collaboration and taking an employee-first approach.

5 . What advice would you give to someone who would like to become a Recruitment Consultant?
I would say that being a Recruitment Consultant is not for the faint hearted but can be one of the most rewarding jobs with the right attitude.
The advice that I would give someone who would like to become a Recruitment Consultant is to never stop learning – no two days are the same and there are constantly opportunities to learn and develop.
No matter how much experience we have in the industry, every day is a school day in recruitment!
6. What hobbies/interests do you have outside of work?
I have many different interests outside of work that mainly focus on language learning, creativity and fun ways to keep fit. I am an animal lover and something that I have found to be truly rewarding over the past year is volunteering at a local animal shelter.
7. If you had one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation – I’d recruit by day and travel the world by night!
