What you need to know
A leading medical device company that has a global reach and is at the forefront of developing new medical technologies is seeking an experienced and accomplished Senior R&D Process Development Engineer for a 12-month contract in Galway City.
As an R&D Process Development Engineer, you will report directly to the R&D Manager and work on groundbreaking polymer coating projects. The role is vital to developing and improving current processes while adhering to regulatory requirements.
This a 12-month contract.
Your New Job
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the research and development of new polymer coating formulations and processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate coating processes into regulated product lines, maintaining the highest quality standards.
Design and execute experiments to optimize coating parameters within the framework of regulatory guidelines.
Thoroughly characterise coating properties using techniques such as FTIR, rheology, SEM, and mechanical testing.
Analyse experimental data and provide data-driven insights to guide process improvements.
Overcome coating-related challenges with a focus on compliance and data-driven decision-making.
Stay current with evolving industry regulations, advancements in polymer coatings, and relevant manufacturing technologies within regulated environments.
Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and comprehensive technical reports.
Collaborate closely with suppliers to evaluate and source regulatory-compliant polymer coating materials.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or another relevant technical field. A Master's or PhD is highly desirable.
Extensive experience in developing polymer coatings within highly regulated environments.
Proficiency in designing and executing experiments within the constraints of regulatory requirements.
Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, and coating techniques.
Proven experience with process scale-up and technology transfer.
Familiarity with quality control processes and methodologies within regulated industries.
Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for analysis.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Innovative mindset coupled with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
