Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Operations Technician for our client based in County Offaly who specialises in climate solutions. They focus on renewable energy, recycling, waste management, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity conservation. As a leading Irish company with innovative projects ahead, they are expanding and seeking to grow their team

The Operations Technician will be reporting to the Operations Engineer, the successful candidate will operate and monitor electricity-generating assets, optimizing performance and ensuring safety, environmental, and engineering compliance on a shift basis.

This is a permanent position, working 8.00am – 4.30pm.

 

Your New Job

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor thermal generating assets to optimize availability, efficiency, and IPPC licence compliance, while meeting business goals. Maximize ancillary service revenues by updating plant status, avoiding AS penalties, and supporting CI initiatives.

  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance under Edenderry Safety, maintaining EPL's hybrid status. Oversee site access, security, and act as first responder in emergencies.

  • Operate assets in line with System Operator instructions and I-SEM rules to maximize commercial performance.

  • Manage deliveries and materials, including sampling and delivery to the laboratory. Record defects and assist with fault-finding and maintenance during outages or breakdowns.

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Plant Business Management System and play a role in broader plant management and HR development.

  • Maintain relationships with owners, legal authorities, suppliers, contractors, and liaise with the Electricity Supply Authority on maintenance outages and supply reliability.

  • Ensure full compliance with company health, safety, and welfare provisions, both for co-workers and the public using the premises.

  • Actively participate in the Performance Management process to achieve both individual and team objectives

What are we looking for?

  • Recent qualification in electrical, mechanical or automation craft.

  • Power plant / process experience.

  • Good IT skills.
