What you need to know
We are currently seeking a Personal Lines Account Handler for our client, in the insurance industry, based in Waterford City.

In this position, you will be responsible for a portfolio of customers to retain existing business and generate new business across motor and home areas.

This is a permanent position with a competitive salary and company benefits. The role is fully office-based for the first 6 months and then will allow one day per week working from home.  
The working hours for this position are 8.45 am – 5 pm.
The company has a number of branches across Ireland and is part of a group with locations across the US, Canada, and the UK.
There are good opportunities for progression and there may be opportunities to work in different locations after a number of years’ service.

Your new job
Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Providing day-to-day support and servicing to clients on their insurance needs.
  • Tasks include issuing renewals including market comparisons, finalising insurance placements, and updating policy schedules.
  • Issuing competitive and tailored insurance quotations to new and existing customers, for personal cars, vans, and homes.
  • Ensuring all documentation is in place and payment is processed for each customer and transaction.
  • Handling ad-hoc client requests as they arise including queries on their policies, applying mid-term adjustments, claims reporting, etc.
  • Conducting market research as required.
  • Staying up to date on insurer products and rates as well as competitor activity in the market.
  • Maintaining good file management and documentation to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, Central Bank codes and company procedures and business ethics.

What are we looking for?
  • Previous experience working in general insurance broking or in an insurance company.
  • APA or CIP qualifications.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Strong IT skills with previous experience on Relay advantageous.
