WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW : 
We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor—ideally with a background in electrical contracting—to join our engineering client’s dynamic technical team.   The role is required to ensure commercial & contractual control and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the execution of a specified project or range of projects and to provide guidance to other members of the Commercial/quantity surveying team and Project Directors/Managers on all aspects relating to commercial activity on a specified project or range of projects.

YOUR NEW ROLE :
  • Work closely with the project team to develop  Monthly progress applications.
  • Ensure all contract variations are captured from engineering deviations and site requests.
  • Prepare in-house monthly commercial reports and take responsibility for all commercial aspects of the project.
  • Monitoring spent V’s earned values on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure maximum profitability on projects under his / her control by pro-actively approaching your duties and exercising commercial acumen.
  • Prepare cash flows and update as necessary - analyse timing of sales and costs.
  • Ensure good working relationships with clients, by ensuring that client correspondence / documentation is prepared in a professional manner.
  • Carry out monthly measure on site and prepare in term valuation.
  • Monitor progress on site ensure that where applicable claims for recovery of loss and expense are submitted timeously and agreed with client.
  • Comply with company procedures in relation to commercial matters.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR : 
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or Electrical trade back-ground is also an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity survey functions.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of all phases of contract development, award, administration and close-out relating to a multi-discipline construction project.
  • Knowledgeable of current industry and technical developments.
  • Proven track record with recognized international standard contracting companies.
  • Good communication and strong English capability. High level of reporting skills.
  • Strong written communication abilities and the ability to negotiate a strong commercial position for the company are also essential.
  • Good presentation and general management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or on your own initiative.
  • Must be capable of preparing “MTO’s” and compiling the Actual Construction Measure.
  • Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
  • Computer literate especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Data Centre Experience.
