What you need to know:

Our client, a reputable and globally renowned medical devices company based in Co. Westmeath is currently seeking a Plant Engineering Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to efficiently manage the maintenance department and ensure there is a strong focus on continuously improving the performance of the equipment on site.

As a Plant Engineering Manager, you will report directly to the Site Director and work with them closely to ensure department targets are consistently met in safety, quality, PM, OEE, costs, and waste.

This is a permanent role with an excellent salary and package.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Effectively managing the Maintenance department, encouraging a culture that focuses on safety, service, quality, and production in line with customer requirements.
  • Encouraging a culture of teamwork and integration within Engineering, and most importantly with Manufacturing Operations, Quality, EHS & HR departments.
  • Developing talent within the department, creating development goals for department members, and producing succession plans.
  • Ensure all department targets and objectives are met - safety, quality, waste, PMs, costs, OEE.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and formulating a predictive/preventative maintenance plan to reduce un-planned stoppages and identify equipment changes to improve
  • Managing maintenance and plant capital and expense budgets.
  • Negotiate with external suppliers of plant services and equipment.

What are we looking for?

  • BEng / MEng Electrical / Mechanical Engineering,
  • Significant practical experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally medical devices.
  • Strong leadership skills with significant team/departmental management experience within an engineering or maintenance environment.
  • Experience in managing mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of validation within a regulated environment.
  • Strong planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent IT skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Proven track record in managing key stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
