Here’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, this Laboratory Technician role lets you make a real impact through quality testing of materials. You’ll split your time between the lab and the great outdoors, helping ensure production meets the required standards through physical, practical work.
Your New Job:
As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll carry out material tests in both laboratory and site environments. You’ll work closely with different teams to collect, handle, and test samples while making sure all procedures and records are up to standard.
This is a physically active position that regularly involves manual handling and outdoor work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests on aggregates, concrete, and bituminous materials
- Carry out routine quality checks including slump testing, cube making, block testing, sieve analysis, gradings, and pavement tests
- Collect and transport material samples between sites and labs
- Handle manual lifting and outdoor site work as part of daily tasks
- Log and report test results accurately according to procedures
- Work alongside production teams to support quality control
- Follow EN standards, protocols, and health & safety guidelines
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Visit sites for sample collection as needed
What Are We Looking For?
- Experience in materials testing (aggregates, concrete, or asphalt) is strong advantage
- Familiarity with EN/ISO testing standards is beneficial
- Detail-oriented with solid organisation and recording skills
- Confident in communicating and interpreting technical data
- Comfortable with regular lifting (10-15kg), site work, and varying weather
- Great team player, strong communication skills
- Full driving licence preferred, not essential
