Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Environmental Specialist for our client based on the County Cavan and they specialise in building materials Manufacturing. They are a leading manufacturer in the construction industry, supplying both the Irish and British markets and are now looking to grow their team.

The Environmental Specialist will be reporting to the Environmental Manager.

This is a permanent position working Mon- Fri 08:00 AM -5:30 PM and a 4PM finish on a Friday

Your new job

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conducting environmental inspections and audits across various sites and supporting senior and divisional management on environmental matters.

• Overseeing the daily management of ISO 14001:2015 certified Environmental Management Systems.

• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental licenses, permits, and planning permissions for sites.

• Assessing staff training needs and delivering environmental training as required.

• Identifying opportunities to enhance environmental performance and developing programmes to drive improvements.

• Assisting in the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives within the company.

• Supporting biodiversity improvement programmes and liaising with external stakeholders on biodiversity-related projects.

• Ensuring compliance with company Health & Safety policies and collaborating with the group H&S department when necessary.

What are we looking for

• A third-level qualification in an Environmental discipline is essential.

• Post-graduate experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

• Previous experience working within the framework of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems is essential.

• Experience with third-party audits is necessary.

• Must have experience operating in a regulated environment, such as IPPC or PPC.
