What you need to know

Our client, a well-known plastics manufacturing company in Co. Longford, are seeking a Tooling Engineer to join their growing organisation.

This is a permanent position.

Your new job

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Supervise the development and optimization of Medical Mold.

  • Ensure meticulous documentation practices are followed.

  • Evaluate plastic part blueprints and specifications for any issues and propose solutions.

  • Engage with customers, suppliers, and operational staff to explore business opportunities and devise product design solutions.

  • Monitor new and replacement tool quotations, vendor specialties, and vendor activities to facilitate vendor selection management.

  • Oversee tool construction and approval for production,collaborating with customers, tool shops, and on-site personnel.

  • Provide support for operational needs with tooling and production engineering, including identifying problems, troubleshooting, resolving issues, and implementing continuous improvement measures.

  • Initiate improvement initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Assist sales teams in assessing cycle times and processes.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years in the plastics industry, focusing on medical molding and mold design enhancement.

  • Candidates must obtain a minimum of a two-year degree in Engineering field; four-year degree is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of injection molding process.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, leadership qualities, and proficiency in project management.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills are essential.
