What you need to know

Our client, a food production company based in Co. Offaly are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join their organisation.

This is a permanent position, working week Monday – Friday.

The Health & Safety Manager will report back to the Site Manager and to the Head of HR.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures to safeguard the health and safety of all personnel.

  • Train supervisors and managers in effective safety protocols.

  • Foster a workplace culture that prioritizes safety, including employing behavioural safety methods.

  • Take an active role in the site management team to champion safety initiatives, attending daily meetings, conducting safety inspections, maintaining safety records, and participating in continuous improvement efforts.

  • Provide regular reporting on accidents, near misses, and other pertinent safety metrics.

  • Monitor company operations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, investigating incidents and recommending necessary changes.

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and retention procedures to comply with relevant legislation.

  • Deliver training sessions on manual handling and related topics, serving as an expert and specialist in certified training areas.

  • Coordinate with service providers to ensure the delivery of safety services.

  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support company objectives.

What you need to know?

  • Health and Safety orientated qualification.

  • Previous Health and Safety lead/management experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Preferable Health and Safety experience dealing with conveyors, lifting and manual handling.

  • Dealings with insurance companies and pulling reports for accidents.

  • Strong communicator.
